Hayden Black on 'Goodnight Burbank' and more
'Goodnight Burbank' from JD Lasica on Vimeo.
Here's a 5-minute video interview I did with Hayden Black, the mastermind behind the Internet video comedies Goodnight Burbank and Abigail’s X-Rated Teen Diary. He also stars in both series.
Hayden also offers some tips for anyone who wants to produce webisodes or just a simple series of videos. We spoke at poolside at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel during the Digital Hollywood conference last month.

Interestingly, Kara Swisher of All Things D and the Wall Street Journal just did a similar 7-minute video interview with Hayden (though I suspect Kara uses a small video production team to put these up). Contrast and compare (the audio turned out a bit better on mine):

Do video producers need a model release form?
Do video producers and video bloggers need to obtain a right-of-publicity/model release form from the subjects of their videos if they plan on using the video commercially (including making money from ads)?
I posed the question to San Francisco attorney Colette Vogele at the recent Web Video Summit in San Jose, and then caught up with her in the hallway to capture her answer in this 3-minute video interview taken with a Nokia N-95 cell phone.

Justin Kan of JustinTV
Last week at OnHollywood I caught up with Justin Kan, creator of Justin.tv. Justin's been the talk of the social media world the past couple of months, especially at the Web 2.0 Expo and at OnHollywood. He wears a webcam 24/7, and Justin.tv will be rolling out live video streaming services for subscribing shortly.
Here's the 3-minute video (in MPEG-4) I shot with my Nokia N93 cell phone. It's also currently the lead video at Ourmedia.

Michael Geoghegan: Making money with your podcast
Spent a while yesterday at Podcamp West with Michael Geoghegan, who's figured out how to make money at podcasting better than almost anyone. His Grape Radio podcast is sold out of sponsorship positions for the next three months. Michael, the co-author of the book Podcast Solutions, talks about what Grape Radio did right. Apologies for the less than stellar lighting. (Ourmedia page | watch video)

A view of Lake Como
Here's a 2-minute video of the view from high atop Lake Como in northern Italy, and the cobblestone sidewalk that descends down the mountain — taken during our visit to vlogger Deirdre Straughan's place last week.

Video of blogger dinner

Here's a 2-minute video of bloggers in Milan, Italy, at a dinner held for me at Il Verdi Trattoria last week, organized by Paolo Valdemarin. I passed around my Nokia N90 with the built-in camcorder. It's dark, but Paolo's in here, as well as videoblogger Deirdre Straughan, Massimo (the Italian publisher of "Darknet"), Marco Zamperini and a few other newfound friends.

Tom Green on the video revolution
Tom Green, the comic actor perhaps best known for once being married to Drew Barrymore (plus, he's made some movies), was the spotlighted speaker at this week's OnHollywood conference. He sat down with me for a few minutes to discuss videoblogging, the personal media revolution, and why he is "deputizing" vloggers from countries around the world to post on tomgreen.com
By the way, I uploaded this video to YouTube to see how it would look converted to Flash. Compare the converted Flash version to the H.264 version.

'Let the wave of voices begin'
Josh Leo, one of my fave videobloggers, pointed me to this thoughtful appraisal of homophobia -- at the culimination of both Gay Pride Week and Videoblogging week. Videobloggers Nate and Rachel Carpenter took a camera to the campus at Michigan Tech, which was strewn with anti-gay messages.
