Bootstrapping for success

Tara_hunt_chris_messina

Here's a 20-minute video interview I conducted at Gnomedex last week with Tara Hunt and Chris Messina, co-founders of Citizen Agency, about boostrapping your startup, the architecture of collaboration, and the Barcamp phenomenon.

It's another biggie: 52mb. Savvy visitors will notice that I've stopped uploading two versions of each interview. That's because Apple has smartly included an H.264 capability within MPEG-4 in its latest release of iMovie and QuickTime Pro, rather than the fluky .m4v codec that was our only choice a few weeks ago.

Production note: After this video, I decided to go out tomorrow and buy a light for my camcorder. Tara looks fine in this (she's sitting beneath a light) but Chris looks a bit blue.

By the way, Tara and Chris just announced a third addition to their Citizen Agency effort: Ben Metcalfe. See Tara's blog and Chris's blog.

By the way II, Chris and Tara have just joined the Open Media Coalition.

Format: MPEG-4 (iPod compatible); 52MB; 20:40; Ourmedia page | watch video; video quality: *** (out of 5)

This is the new economics at work and well-articulated.

Yes. Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes.

Keepin' it real.

Cooperation vs. Manipulation.

Cluetrain. Hughtrain.

Authenticity. Honor. Strong foundations.

Ha!

Thanks for finding and interviewing these folks.

I am by no means techie, but I find it ironic that when I click on the link for the open media coalition above I get a password protected site. Is this the "new open"?
